Abstract: The author explains how visual decline is one of the most important features of age-related disability among older adults. Studies have suggested that medication mismanagement may be related to vision loss. A link has been recognized between visual impairment and an increased risk of hospitalization, which is likely secondary to the reduced functional ability associated with visual impairment and other comorbidity.
